3M Australia recently moved into a new headquarters located in North Ryde. We’ve definitely seen an increase in the number of projects leveraging creativity and graphics into projects in the last couple of years, and this project is a great example. The new space features original graphics by identity and branding firm THERE.
Today’s office of Atlanta-based 22squared comes via the Wall Street Journal and brings a couple interesting things with it. First, the office is meant to be deliberately collaborative, but executives do have private offices. Usually companies that move in the collaborative, open environment direction seem to shun the private space. Second, the office renovation actually utilized furniture from the older space, but added updated fabric and paint.
Group8 has probably created one of the most unique office spaces on the planet with their own office entitled ‘Cargo’. Shipping containers are one of the most important inventions and helped to transform the shipping industry with their uniform size. This office featuring them might not transform the office design industry, but it does set them apart from other similar companies. The office is a brilliant white color which is only broken up by the color of the shipping containers, people, computers, and chairs. The shipping containers are used for several functions beyond the simple eye candy factor. First, they act as private offices that break up the open office bullpen. And secondly, they are used as conference space to again, break away from the loud openness of the open areas.
These Google offices are located in Zurich, which is one of my favorite European cities. They have a great public transit system and the city is just clean and nice. You should go there sometime. These offices are complete with a firepole, a slide, thinking gondolas, serenity eggs, foam-filled meditation bathtubs, and fishtanks. Pretty swanky if you ask me.
Just when you forgot about Google, that crazy search company, they desided to build another crazy office. We’ve seen them before – Stockholm and Zurich – but this one is just flat out futuristic. Dubbed ‘L4′, the space was built as the London office’s engineering floor which houses around 350 Googlers. It has all the essentials from desks and chairs to 19 flavors of coffee and billiards. Conference spaces offer multi-level seating, video-conferencing, and Vitra Panton chairs. Anyone have thoughts on who fitted out the space? I’m nto familiar with many of the furniture items in there. Enjoy!
Google has recently moved into an incredible new office space Tel Aviv, Israel. Designed by Camenzind Evolution. The impressive 8,000 sqm campus occupies 8 floors in Electra Tower. With incredible views of the city, the space is set primed for not only giving employees the right tools for work, but also those for inspiration and creativity. Colorfully-themed rooms and local styling are something I’ve come to love about Camenzind Evolution’s Google office designs.
Google has recently moved into new offices in Japan. The new offices were built out over 4 phases and feature a variety of styles. One thing that immediately stands out from the photos are the number of custom wall graphics and fabrics that can be seen. It looks like there are graphics in just about every room. Some favorites of mine include the Google Maps pins, the Androids, and the Chrome icons – which could signify the products being developed out of the Japan location. The designers used these graphics in addition to color to signify location by applying them to specific zones throughout the office.
Google’s new Central Saint Giles Headquarters last year which we’ve posted about a couple times – here and here. Technically here too because the office encompasses the Youtube Creator Space. But today’s posting has a lot of new photos I think are worthwhile in gaining a better understanding of the office as well as just generally being inspired. And mostly because I can’t get enough of the patterned wallpaper and padded walls.
